In the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning there is room for growth and with enough training and time you will gain the knowledge and expertise to open your own company and be your own boss if you so desire. Throughout your training you will learn many different aspects of the trade. You will learn what it is to install new units and equipment as well as how to maintain the equipment and repair broken units. You will also be exposed to electrical work as it pertains to the units in your field.

Education

You have many different options when it comes to training for heating, ventilation and air conditioning programs. The first thing that you need to consider when you are enrolling in a program is whether or not you prefer to take classes online or take them in a more traditional classroom setting. There are pros and cons to both ways, but you need to make the decision that is best for you.

When taking classes at a local college, university or technical school you will most likely have a choice of taking daytime classes or evening classes. Evening classes are great if you plan on working while you are going to school.

There is however one other option when it comes to getting your heating, ventilation and air conditioning license. You can work as an apprentice under the supervision of a trained and licensed heating, ventilation and air conditioning technician and learn that way. It may take you a bit longer to reach your goal this way, but it will eventually get you what you are looking for. Still, if you are planning on getting your certificate the quickest and most efficient way is through schooling.

There are a few options for you if you live in the Houston area of Texas. If you are interested in taking online classes then you should investigate the Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning program at Lincoln Tech, the Air Conditioning, and Heating & Refrigeration program at ATI Technical Institute or the Residential Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Technician Diploma program at Everest Institute. If you prefer to attend school and learn in a classroom then you should look into the program offered at these schools.
